Studio Policies

At Bellevue Classical Ballet, our policies are designed to support a safe, respectful, and professional learning environment for all students. Enrollment in any class or program indicates agreement with the following policies.

Refund Policy

All registrations, tuition payments, drop-in fees, workshops, private lessons, summer programs, and special event fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Studio programming, faculty scheduling, and facility commitments are planned in advance based on enrollment. We appreciate your understanding and commitment when reserving your place in class.

Minimum Enrollment & Class Cancellations

To maintain a high-quality learning experience, classes require a minimum level of enrollment. If fewer than two (2) students are enrolled at least twelve (12) hours prior to the scheduled class start time, the class may be cancelled.

Students will be notified as soon as possible if a class is cancelled and will receive a class credit or alternative arrangement when applicable. The studio reserves the right to modify schedules, faculty assignments, or class offerings as necessary.

Attendance & Punctuality

Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared for class. If a student arrives later than five (5) minutes, they may be asked to observe class rather than participate if the warm-up portion of class has concluded. Participation without proper warm-up may increase risk of injury.

Sickness & Injury

Students should not attend class when experiencing illness, fever, or contagious symptoms. If you are uncertain whether it is appropriate to attend class due to illness or symptoms, we kindly ask that you err on the side of caution and remain at home. Please be considerate of fellow students, faculty, and our shared studio environment. The studio reserves the right to ask a student to sit out or leave class if participation may pose a health or safety concern to themselves or others.

Parents and students are responsible for informing the studio and instructor of relevant injuries or medical conditions prior to participation.

Placement & Advancement

Class placement is determined solely by the Bellevue Classical Ballet team. Placement decisions consider technical readiness, physical development, maturity, and overall training needs.

The studio reserves full discretion regarding student placement, advancement, pointe readiness, and participation in specialized programs. Decisions are made with each student’s long-term health, safety, and development in mind.

Photography, Social Media, and Online Conduct

Our BCB team may photograph and video record occasionally during classes, rehearsals, or studio activities for educational, archival, or promotional purposes. By participating in studio programs, students and parents acknowledge that images or recordings may be used by Bellevue Classical Ballet for marketing materials, website content, social media, or studio communications. If you have concerns regarding photography or media usage, please contact us directly.

Students and parents may not record classes without faculty permission.

Students and families represent the studio community both inside and outside the studio. Posting or sharing content that misrepresents faculty instruction, studio policies, or other students may result in removal from programs. BCB will not tolerate any online bullying in any form. We aim to provide a safe, welcoming and professional environment for everyone.

Weather or Emergency Closures

Classes may be cancelled due to weather conditions, facility issues, or emergencies. Class credit will be provided for emergency closures, no refunds.

Dress Code

Children’s Division: Students must follow studio uniform and grooming expectations. Ladies hair must be slicked back in a clean, neat bun. Gentlemen must have hair neat and out of face. Headbands or bandanas are not allowed for our Beginner and Intermediate students. Students not meeting dress code standards may be asked to observe class to maintain professionalism.

Adult Program: Ballet slippers required. Leotard and tights highly recommended, but not mandatory.

Liability

Participation in dance training involves physical activity and inherent risk. By enrolling in classes or studio programs, students and parents acknowledge these risks and agree that Bellevue Classical Ballet and its faculty are not liable for injuries sustained during participation.

Private Lessons & Coaching

Private lessons are scheduled based on instructor availability. Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed lessons may be charged in full.

Student Conduct & Studio Etiquette

Bellevue Classical Ballet maintains a respectful and focused training environment. Students are expected to demonstrate:

  • Respect toward faculty, staff, parents, studio, exercise equipment and fellow students

  • Attentiveness and enthusiasm during class instruction

  • Professional behavior in and outside of the studio space

Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in dismissal from class at the discretion of faculty or administration.

In addition, Bellevue Classical Ballet is committed to fostering a respectful and supportive environment. Negative or disruptive conduct toward faculty, staff, students, or families — whether in person, via email, or online — may result in dismissal from programs at the studio’s discretion.

Parent Observation & Communication

To support student focus and independence, observation policies may vary by class or program. We value transparency and often our doors are open for parents to observe respectfully during classes or private coaching. Absolutely no recording of any teacher’s class or students without explicit permission. We do offer observation days and demonstrations when photos/videos are welcome and allowed.

Student Progress & Comparison

Each dancer progresses at their own individual pace based on strength, coordination, physical development, and consistency of training. Comparisons between students regarding placement, pointe readiness, advancement timelines, or training opportunities are not appropriate and will not be accommodated.

Families are encouraged to focus on each student’s personal growth journey.

Right of Refusal

The studio reserves the right to refuse enrollment or discontinue participation if policies are not respected or if continued participation is not in the best interest of the student or studio community. If enrollment cease due to disrespectful or inappropriate behavior, no refund will be given.

Policy Updates

The studio reserves the right to update or modify policies as necessary. Current policies will be reflected on the website.
